In Japan, some people use “forest bathing”, which may improve their mental health. Our research found that going for a walk was the UK adults’ favourite way of coping with stress during the pandemic in 2020. Some people say nature helps them feel calmer, more hopeful and less alone. We have been living around other animals and plants for thousands of years. Nature can have a really calming effect on us. We all live with worries and fears, uncertainties, losses that leave us sad and pressures that make us feel stressed. ![]() One thing to remember: none of us is perfect. Trying new things can sometimes feel uncomfortable, but they usually get easier the more we practise them. Why not give them a try and see which ones suit you best? Our tips will be easier for some and harder for others.
